PSM Member – Rs 4000/-(Rupees Four thousand only) [per member]
Non PSM Member – Rs 6000/- (Rupees six thousand only) [per person]

  • Tea, snacks and  a Vegetarian lunch will be provided
  • Every member has to bring their own camera.
  • This course will have instructors walking around the participants to help them navigate through the camera menus as when certain aspect is being discussed. We are trying to make this course very much hands on as possible.

Dr.Srinivasan Periathiruvadi





We are  happy to announce that our life member Dr. Srinivasan Periathiruvadi has consented to be a reviewer for Behance Portfolio review to be held on 31st Oct 2015

Dr. Srinivasan Periathiruvadi (“Srini” to friends) is a Physician and a self taught nature photographer. He started his journey in photography 50 years ago (!). After a sabbatical for over 20 years, he got back to serious nature photography in 2006. Like most nature photographers, Srini also started off with long lenses and tele-converters and full frame Nikon bodies.

In 2010, he had the urge to move away from the long lenses and started seeing the nature through wider lenses. In 2014, he decided to move on to Phase one (medium format) started documenting “Wildscapes”.
A regular visitor to Serengeti, he has explored the Indian wilderness and Himalayas extensively. He won his first recognition in 2007 when three of his images won prizes in a national competition including the first. One of his images found the way in to the “Daily Dozen” of National Geography in 2010.

He had his first solo exhibition in 2012 at Lalit Kala Akademi. Srini is also prints large format images of his creations using Epson printers.

R.Prasana is a  self taught  professional photographer from Chennai,India specialising in commercial and advertising photography.He is now the Official photo mentor of Nikon for Tamilnadu and Pondicherry


Performance in field of PhotographyThe year was 2000 ,his first break was for The Hindu Folio and from then on he has struggled a lot to prove himself. The major hurdle being that he was new to Chennai  and has not assisted anyone to this day. Apart from a  workshop under Mr.Iqbal Mohammed at The Light& Life Academy  he is totally self taught.After the initial struggle to gain acceptance in the industry ,he slowly started getting good offers from  magazines and advertising agencies. His parents were worried initially since he was from an academically inclined family. But soon they realized his passion and have been very supportive from then on.

Now  he is one of the most sought after professional photographer in India for major retail and corporate clients as well as celebrities like Ilaiyaraja, Dr.K.J.Yesudas and many more. His  innovative style,friendly disposition, humor and creativity have got  him  clients like  Rolls Royce Motors, Mahindra Homestays ,Kalakshetra Foundation ,Wallem Shipping International,  MGM Dizzee World,CMR shopping mall,Lavazza, Chennai silks,Kone Finland,Niklas Oppermann London ,Ashok Leyland, Agri Gold, Diamond Chains,Transform Designs among many

His   pictures have graced the covers of prestigious books from Penguin publishers. Some of them being Where the rain is born by Anita Nair, Memories of Malgudi (R.K.Narayan) A Place To Live, Chasing the Monsoon etc.,His work has appeared in several regional and National magazines like Better Photography, Discover India, Ananda Vikatan, Smart Photography, Alive, Times journal of Photography, The Hindu Folio, Kunkumam, Harmony, Outlook Traveller etc.Apart from magazines his works have also appeared in WWF Greeting cards, National Human Rights Commission(NHRC) calendar 2003&2004 and ITC Greeting Cards.He has also been featured on Jaya Tv(Kaalai Malar) and Makkal TV(Jannalukku Veliye and Live QA show) ,NDTV Hindu(Mission Makeover) for his photographic skills.

Recognition for PhotographyIn 2004 his work titled Faded Mirror won him an Award in the prestigious Kodak Calendar Competition. This was a national level competition .Apart from that his work has also won prizes in Junior Vikatan Visual Taste ,Alive Magazine competition. Recently in April 2010 his portfolio was featured in The SHOWCASE section of Smart Photography Magazine. He also conducts  workshops on photography for professionals as well as beginners.On 16th September 2013 and January 4th 2014 one of his photos got featured in the National Geographic Your Shots Daily Dozen.

Dust off your portfolios, people.  Behance Portfolio Review is here in Chennai organized by Photographic Society of Madras. Your portfolio (max of 10 photographs) will be reviewed and critiqued by renowned photographers of Chennai. and  its a great chance to interact with them and learn from them.
  •  When? Where? 
    • 31st October, 2015, from 11.00 am till 3.00 pm, at ALUMNI CENTRE, COLLEGE OF  ENGINEERING, ANNA UNIVERSITY, GUINDY, CHENNAI 
  • Genres of Photographs for review:
    •  Landscape
    •  Street 
    •  Wildlife,Macro
    •  Architecture 
    •  Fashion
  • Portfolio size:
    •  Recommended: 10 photographs (minimum accepted - 5 nos)
  • Do not bring more than two genres for review    
  • Medium
    •  Prints(minimum 12x8 inch)/ Photo book ( minimum 12x8 inch) 
    •  You can bring high-res photographs as well. In such case, bring your laptop as well for showcase & review.
    •  Avoid bringing your work in iPad or Tablets or Mobile phones - The panel shall not review them
    •       Please bring your portfolio, also on a memory stick, in case required for projection.
  • What the panel shall not review  
    •  Digital art work
    •  Wildlife photographs taken at zoo & domesticated animals
    •  Videos or short films
  • During the review, 
    •  Each participant shall get individual attention
    •  10 minute of feedback for the work in the per-designated time.
    •  The panel reviews the work for its composition, lighting, color, expressions, mood and other photographic elements. These apart, the panel also reviews the quality of presentation.
    •  Participant are requested to give equal attention 
      • - to quality of paper(for print reviews)
      • - colour reproduction
      • - choice of arrangement of photographs
    • The best portfolios shall be displayed at the end of the show.
